Although I’m a fan of Wordpress and the affordable flexibility you get with it, I don’t think that ‘free-standing’ blogs on their own are great for travel sites. I recommend you build a travel website first and THEN plug a blog on top of that.
Why? A blog is supposed to engage with your audience and in the context of travel is more personal (perhaps..). Social Media is a ‘two-way’ discussions.
A website gives you the opportunity to get all your thoughts out there and give yourself your own reference point when you can blog about your adventures.
