Using Wordpress to Build a Real Estate Website
Building a website for a Real Estate business is probably a daunting task for a realtor. Not only does it need to be designed with seduction and professionalism in mind, but there are technical challenges involved too.
Typically you’ll need a designer and a programmer and about $5000 to help you build such a website, but with Wordpress, a Wordpress theme and a few smart decisions you can achieve the whole thing for under $100.
Wordpress Themes for Real Estate Websites
First off, if you don’t know what a Wordpress Theme is, check out Step 3 of our 14-step guide. Essentially, it’s a pre-built website or blog design that you buy for between $20-$75 and upload into Wordpress.
Recently, there have been a bunch of new Real Estate themes for Wordpress appearing on the market. And they come in 2 shapes and sizes. There’s the single user version which allows a sole realtor to set up his or her own website. Then there are multi-user themes that let you manage a team or group of realtors. Let’s take a look at some of the best new Real Estate Wordpress themes.
New Real Estate Wordpress Themes
Our 3 favorite themes come from Gorilla Themes and Studio Press. All 3 are beautifully designed and offer the functionality and layouts you’d expect from a real estate site.
Agent – Real Estate Wordpress Theme
The Agent Wordpress theme is classic real estate. Some of it’s features include:
- Smooth rotating featured home area with beautiful transparency for the description.
- Example categories that show you how you would break down listings by price.
- Large photography used in the category templates.
- Layouts for detailed property listings.
- Photo gallery layout – we’d actually like to see this work with Lightbox type functionality, but you can achieve that easily if you install the ShadowBox JS plugin we mention in Step 4.
- 6 page templates that cover the required elements of a real estate website.
- Multi-agent template.
Here’s a preview of how the Agent real estate Wordpress theme looks:
